先日、津軽富士の岩木山山頂付近に積雪がありましたが、しばらく
山頂付近は雲がかかって観測所から見えなかったため、二日遅れて
「岩木山に初冠雪を確認しました」と発表になりました。
山の初冠雪を観測しているのは各地方の気象台であり、青森気象台の
職員が目視で観測しているのだそうです。ですから気象台の場所から
山を見たときに厚い雲がかかって見えないときも
あるので発表が数日遅れることもあるそうです。
昨日は七合目から上に積雪があり、その下が真っ赤な紅葉となり
赤いリンゴと相まって、なかなか素晴らしい光景となりました。

The other day, snow fell near the summit of Mount Iwaki,
 part of Tsugaru Fuji. 
However, clouds obscured the summit for a while,
 making it impossible to see from the observation station,
 so the announcement that "the first snow has been confirmed
 on Mount Iwaki" was made two days late.
The first snow on the mountains is observed by
 local meteorological observatories, and apparently,
 it is observed visually by staff
 at the Aomori Meteorological Observatory. 
Therefore, sometimes the announcement is delayed
 by several days because the mountain is sometimes
 obscured by thick clouds when viewed from the observatory.
Yesterday, there was snow above the seventh station,
 and underneath it, bright red autumn leaves formed,
 which, combined with the red apples,
 made for a truly spectacular sight.
